  • 1 loaf of rye bread, cubed
  • 1 lb corned beef, sliced
  • 2 cups sauerkraut, drained
  • 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prep

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

Step 2: Layer the Ingredients

  1. Spread half of the cubed rye bread in the bottom of the baking dish.
  2. Add half of the corned beef evenly over the bread.
  3. Sprinkle half of the sauerkraut over the corned beef.
  4. Layer half of the shredded Swiss cheese on top.
  5. Drizzle half of the Thousand Island dressing over the cheese.

Step 3: Repeat the Layers

  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining bread, corned beef, sauerkraut, cheese, and Thousand Island dressing.

Step 4: Add Butter and Bake

  • Drizzle melted butter evenly over the top.
  • Sprinkle with caraway seeds, if using.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
