Ingredients

Scale

For the cake:

  • 2 large apples, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup milk

For the topping:

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth.

Fold in the sliced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle it evenly over the top of the cake batter.

Dot the top with small pieces of butter.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve and enjoy!
