Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (21 oz) strawberry pie filling
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) vanilla or white cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (for garnish)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the pie filling.

Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top without stirring.

Drizzle the melted butter and milk evenly over the cake mix, making sure to moisten as much of the dry mix as possible.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh strawberries and whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use Room Temperature Cream Cheese – This makes it easier to mix and prevents lumps.
  • Evenly Distribute the Butter & Milk – Ensures the cake mix bakes evenly and doesn’t stay dry.
  • Don’t Stir the Layers – Keeping them separate gives the best texture.
  • Make It Ahead – You can assemble it in advance and refrigerate before baking.
  • Storage – Keep at room temperature for 1 day, refrigerate for up to 4 days, or freeze for 3 months.
  • Reheat Options – Microwave for 30 seconds or warm in the oven at 300°F for 10 minutes for a freshly baked feel.
