· All-purpose flour: 2 ½ cups (300 g)
· Granulated sugar: ¾ cup (150 g)
· Light brown sugar: ½ cup (100 g), packed
· Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
· Salt: ½ teaspoon
· Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
· Unsalted butter, melted: 1 cup (226 g)
· Large eggs: 2
· Apples, peeled and sliced: 5 medium (about 5 cups / 600 g)
· Granulated sugar: ¼ cup (50 g)
· Light brown sugar: ¼ cup (50 g)
· Ground cinnamon: 1 ½ teaspoons
· Ground nutmeg: ¼ teaspoon
· Cornstarch: 2 tablespoons
· Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
· Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a 9 x 13-inch pan with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugars, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Add butter and eggs and mix until crumbly.
3. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the pan to form the base.
4. Toss apples with sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla.
5. Spread apple mixture over the base and sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
6. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden and bubbly.
7. Cool completely before slicing.
