Ingredients

Scale

🥩 For the Beef Filling:

1 pound ground beef (85% lean)

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ cup yellow onion, finely diced

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

🥐 For the Dough and Topping:

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 count)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon garlic powder (for garlic butter)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray it with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2: Cook the beef and onions

  • In a large skillet, cook 1 lb ground beef and ½ cup diced onion over medium heat.

  • Stir frequently and cook for 8–10 minutes, until the beef is browned and onions are soft.

  • Drain any excess grease.

Step 3: Season the mixture

  • Stir in:

    • ½ tsp salt

    • ½ tsp black pepper

    • ½ tsp garlic powder

    • ½ tsp onion powder

  • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly (about 5 minutes).

Step 4: Add cheese

  • Once the beef mixture is slightly cooled, stir in:

    • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • Mix until well combined.

Step 5: Prepare the dough

  • Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 individual triangles.

  • Place each triangle on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 6: Fill and roll

  • Spoon 1 heaping tablespoon of the beef and cheese mixture onto the wide end of each dough triangle.

  • Roll the dough tightly from the wide end toward the tip, enclosing the filling.

Step 7: Make garlic butter

  • In a small bowl, mix:

    • 2 tablespoons melted butter

    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Step 8: Brush and bake

  • Brush each rollup generously with the garlic butter.

  • Bake at 375°F for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the dough is cooked through.

Step 9: Garnish and serve

  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley (optional) for a pop of color and freshness.

  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces (ranch, ketchup, BBQ, or spicy mayo).

Notes

  • Cheese Tip: Sharp cheddar offers the best balance of flavor and meltability. For a twist, try pepper jack or mozzarella.

  • Make Ahead: You can cook the beef mixture up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate.

  • Freezing: Assemble rollups and freeze unbaked on a tray. Store in a freezer bag and bake from frozen, adding 3–5 extra minutes.

  • Air Fryer Option: Cook at 330°F for 8–10 minutes in a preheated air fryer.
