Christmas Eve Cinnamon Crisps

These Christmas Eve Cinnamon Crisps are light, buttery, and sweet treats baked to perfection with a festive cinnamon sugar blend. Made using flour tortillas and everyday pantry staples, they’re the ultimate last-minute holiday snack or edible gift. Perfect for kids, parties, and cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large flour tortillas (soft, burrito-style)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (or vegan butter alternative)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)

Pinch of ground nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg (if using). Set aside.

  3. Place tortillas on a flat surface. Use a pastry brush to brush both sides of each tortilla with melted butter.

  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over both sides of each buttered tortilla. Press lightly to help it stick.

  5. Use a sharp knife or holiday-themed cookie cutters to slice tortillas into:

    • Triangles

    • Strips

    • Stars, trees, or snowflakes

  6. Lay the pieces in a single layer on the parchment-lined baking sheets, ensuring they do not overlap.

  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, rotating pans halfway through, until the crisps are golden brown and edges are crisp.

  8. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack. This step is crucial to achieve full crispiness.

Notes

  • Cutting Shapes: Use cookie cutters for festive shapes—kids love this step!

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. For added crispness, reheat at 300°F for 3 minutes.

  • Serving Idea: Serve with fruit salsa, chocolate sauce, or whipped cream as a dip.

  • Make It Vegan: Use plant-based butter and organic cane sugar.

  • Make It Healthier: Use whole wheat or gluten-free tortillas and reduce the sugar to 1/3 cup.

  • Don’t Overbake: Watch closely after 8 minutes. They can brown very fast.
