This Sloppy Joe casserole combines the tangy, savory flavors of the classic sandwich with the layered, cheesy comfort of a slow-cooked casserole. Ground beef, tomato sauce, and a medley of spices meld together in a rich sauce, which is then tossed with tender egg noodles and topped with melty cheddar cheese for the ultimate family meal.

  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (16 oz) package egg noodles, cooked and drained

Instructions

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with chopped onion and bell pepper until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain excess fat.

In a bowl, mix together tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.

Add the cooked beef mixture to the crock pot. Stir in the sauce mixture until well combined.

Cook on low for 3-4 hours.

About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the cooked egg noodles and half of the shredded cheese.

Top with the remaining cheese, cover, and let it melt before serving.
