Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces linguine or angel hair pasta, cooked

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and lemon juice, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  4. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Serve over cooked pasta, tossing to coat in the sauce. Garnish with extra Parmesan and parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor and texture.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp—remove them as soon as they turn pink.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes based on your spice preference.
  • If the sauce gets too thick, add a splash of chicken broth or pasta water.
  • For a creamy version, stir in heavy cream or cream cheese.
